CMHA proud to stand with British Columbians in facing COVID-19
April 9, 2020
Fear is contagious – but so are caring and support.
In this spirit of resilience, the Canadian Mental Health Association across BC is proud to offer expanded supports during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis with generous funding announced today from the Province of B.C.
Peer support, BounceBack coaching, community counselling and more supports are delivered with community-based local CMHA’s and partner organizations throughout British Columbia. These programs continue provide evidence-based, compassionate and respectful services and programs to British Columbians. Funding is supporting the expansion of these services with more staff, and online platforms.
To support those who are working bravely in some of the most vulnerable workplaces, innovative new supports and resources are being developed for workers in long-term continuing care, health care and home care.
CMHA believes that everyone has the right to their best possible mental health. These proven supports will make a difference to reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and lighten the long-term mental health legacy of this crisis. These supports come in addition to governments providing vital practical help with income, housing and safety, which are needed as the first level foundation for positive mental health.
