Living Life to the Full – Adult Course (19+)

Want to know how to feel happier, more confident and worry less? Would you like to learn new ways of dealing with what life throws at you? Living Life to the Full is a fun and interactive experience that will help you understand your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and what to do about them! This mental health promotion course is designed to help people aged 19+ deal with everyday life challenges and learn self-management skills using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) principles. Course content and materials are practical and easily applied to everyday life situations. The course is suitable for people of all ages who may be dealing with stress, anxiety, or just needing help in dealing with life’s challenges. Living Life to the Full helps people make a difference in their lives in eight enjoyable 90-minute sessions – one per week. Each session is group-based, led by a trained facilitator, and includes a booklet, handouts, exercises, and discussions.

This program was originally developed by Dr. Chris Williams – an expert and trainer in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Emeritus Professor in Psychosocial Psychiatry in the UK, Living Life to the Full has been adapted for Canadian audiences by CMHA BC and has been a national flagship program in Canada since 2013.

Living Life to the Full – Youth Course (13-18)

Youth mental health matters! Low-mood, stress and anxiety can affect you at any age. Want to know how to feel happier, more confident and worry less? Would you like to learn new ways of dealing with what life throws at you? Understanding your mental health and taking steps to improve how you think and feel early on can make a big difference. Living Life to the Full for Youth is a mental health promotion program, and it is intended for everyone! Whether you just want to learn more about yourself or you are dealing with some stress or anxiety, the course can offer you tools and skills to help you along your journey! Group-based and led by a youth-certified facilitator, Living Life to the Full for Youth equips teens ages 13-18 with the skills they need to face challenges in life and become more resilient. Originally adapted from the Living Life to the Full for Adults course, and based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) principles, the course includes fun activities and group challenges to help youth practice and develop their skills. Course content and materials are practical and easily applied to everyday life situations.

In 8 enjoyable 90-minute sessions —one per week—this program empowers youth to make a difference in their own lives. Participants are taught how to deal with their feelings when fed up, worried, or hopeless, and learn skills to help them tackle life’s problems.
